Fishing off the coast of Iturup
We invite you to go fishing. On the coast of Iturup, we have chances to catch cod, sea bass, but usually the main purpose of the outing is halibut. The average weight of the fish is 50 kg, but there are also individual specimens weighing more than 100 kg. This adventure is available from May to September - at this time the sea is calmer, but, of course, we always coordinate plans with weather conditions.

Climbing the Baransky volcano
Climbing the volcano, despite its seemingly kilometer-high altitude, is not an easy and safe route. We climb by car to a height of 350 meters, and then begins a not very difficult ascent to the fumarole fields along the path to a height of 700 meters. Then the difficulties begin, as the ascent is carried out along the crumbled crater, where we go and climb over the rocks, that is, at a steep angle. Therefore, this route is intended for those who are athletic, but even for them it will not seem like an easy walk. In good weather, you can see the northern and southern parts of the island, but the view is very impressive - volcanoes, sea and ocean will open up in front of us. Then a descent and a trip to the springs, where those who wish can swim in the "Boiling" river or in vats on 2 black rivers. This route takes a whole day.

Tornaya Bay, Sopochnoye Lake
We drive to this place, passing the White Rocks. Therefore, we recommend including this excursion on the day of visiting the White Rocks. We will leave the borders of the tour that is common on the island and go in a northerly direction, where there are no villages, but there were not small ones before. We will also drive along the old runway, preserved after the Japanese, we will see the pier that they used. But the most important thing is that bears often walk along this route, and the view is stunning of the "4 brothers" Kekurs.

Climbing is very difficult, if only because there is no fresh water nearby, it will need to be carried with you. Climbing on the "pebbles", which means that the foot falls 5 cm into the ground, and the climb is steep! But again, the view is amazing - this is the south of the island, it's a completely different nature than in the center and north of the island! In good weather, you can see both Kunashir and the island of Hokkaido! Such a route is mandatory with an overnight stay, since it can take 12 hours to hike to the top of the volcano. This is a route for very sophisticated travelers, and of course sports-trained!

To travel to Iturup, you do not need to get a border pass if you are traveling with us. Kuriltur has a permit from the border services to provide tourist services. It will only be necessary to formalize the contract, but this is our concern. You will only be required to:

Tours are usually held between the end of May and the end of October, as this season is considered the most suitable for travel. However, there are also tours in winter when there is enough snow. In winter, we deliver groups on snowmobiles to the volcano.
We carry tourists on our routes on SUVs. This is usually the 80th or 100th land cruiser prado or Nissan Safari. These reliable old men are ideal and flawlessly reliable for driving on the unpaved roads of the island, and the guides of "Kuriltur" keep them in excellent technical condition. True, not every car has air conditioning, but in our weather conditions it is almost never needed.
